Japanese dessert fans, take heed: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. Called K. Minamoto, the fresh arrival is located at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd. in Century City.
This new confectioner, located inside the freshly updated Westfield Century City mall, features a variety of Japanese sweet treats. The company has other outposts in California, New York, and London, with its flagship store located in the Ginza neighborhood of Tokyo, Japan.
The sweets are imported directly from Japan with a rotating seasonal selection on offer. Expect to see items like matcha mochi, kasutera cakes, shimizuhakuto jellies, tousenka (fruit preserved in jelly), and more. (You can get an idea of what's on offer by checking out their online store here.)
The new shop has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Trisha W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on November 4th, said: "Traditional Japanese gourmet mochi imported from Japan! The store feels very Japanese. Everything is neatly displayed and easy to navigate and high quality. Minamoto is famous for their mochi."
Yelper Kristina L. added: “The two girls that were there were super friendly and not pushy at all. There are so many treats here, like mochi, cakes, jellies, and etc. It was so hard to choose between all the variety."
And Julia V. said: "This is a great spot for some traditional Japanese sweets. They sell some items individually or in a box. The items are a little bit on the pricier side, but it's worth every cent."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. K. Minamoto is open Monday–Saturday from 10am–9pm, and Sunday from 11am–7pm.
