A new gift shop, offering cards and stationery, jewelry and more, has opened up shop in the neighborhood. The new addition to University Place, called Anvil Cards, is located at 2356 Bissonnet St.
This newcomer—located in the former Alan Cable Jewelry space—features a "carefully curated collection from local makers and artisans," including an array of Houston-themed memorabilia, greeting cards, and pens and other stationery items.
The card selection ranges from "funny birthday cards to hand-drawn greeting cards to Houston-themed thank you cards."
Anvil's signature Texas greeting cards and Houston shirts can be found at various retailers throughout the state as well. (You can see what's available at the store this month here.)
With just one review on Yelp thus far, Anvil Cards currently has a five-star rating.
Rose K., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on November 26th, said: "Anvil Cards is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! Aside from cards, they carry other local goods like jewelry, stickers, magnets, and other small gifts. Everything is so creative and fun—if you grew up in Houston, you'll fall in love with the clever local jokes, I guarantee it."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Anvil Cards is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-7pm, and Sunday from 12-6pm. (It's closed on Monday.)
