A new cocktail bar and Cajun/Creole spot, offering seafood and more, has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Bootleg Special, the new addition is located at 400 Tremont St. (between Arlington St & Appleton St) in the South End.
Bootleg Special bills itself as a "good old Southern crawfish joint," specializing in New Orleans-style seafood boils and comfort food, the eatery writes on its website. It comes courtesy of chef Christos Tsardounis (Washington Square Tavern), reports Eater.
On the menu, look for options like the "Bootleg Special," a boil that includes lobster, shrimp and corn on the cob; four different kinds of po'boys; and small plates like garlic noodles and crawfish mac n' cheese.
Diners can also build their own boils, with seafood options that include Alaskan king crab legs, crawfish and mussels. They can further customize their boil with sauces and add-ins like potatoes and andouille sausage.
There's also a hearty libations list with signature cocktails, beers and wines. (Take a look at the full menu here.)
With a 4.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Bootleg Special has already made a good impression.
Dave D., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on February 23rd, said: "Went here on a Friday night, and it was a great experience. Had the street corn to start and split the clam boil and shrimp po'boy. The bootleg sauce in the boil is terrific."
Yelper Stacie C. added: “Great new place! Went just for drinks, the manager introduced himself to everyone, which was a nice touch. Awesome industrial space with cool vibes.”
Head on over to check it out: Bootleg Special is open Thursday–Saturday from 4pm–1am, and Sunday–Wednesday from 4pm–11pm.
