Ampersand

Ampersand, located in Uptown, is a trendy coffee roastery that offers both alcoholic and non-alcoholic caffeinated concoctions. 

Guests will find a number of creative drink options designed to perk them up, from a lavender latte to a strawberry frappe. In the evening, look for alcohol-infused takes on coffee drinks, such as the "Amy Winehouse" wine milkshake and "Cold Fashioned" cold brew spiked with whiskey.

With a 5-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp, Ampersand has been getting positive attention.

Yelper Michael L., who reviewed Ampersand on April 8, wrote, "Great coffee shop in the heart of Uptown Dallas! Great place to get some work done as there is a lot of space! Definitely recommend the R.F.M.E. and Vietnamese Iced Coffee if you need that extra kick for your day!"

And Yelper Tom T. wrote, "Great coffee and really great service. Staff patiently explained the menu choices which are interesting and reasonably priced. I'm sure we will be back!"

The Merchant

Over in Lowest Greenville, The Merchant is a spot to score everything from coffee and tea to cards and stationery.

This establishment, located next to Nora Restaurant, uses Stumptown Coffee in its caffeinated drinks. Guests will also find a wide range of stationary items, such as greeting cards, planners and journals.

With a five-star Yelp rating out of one reviews on Yelp, The Merchant has been getting positive attention.

Yelper Jen S., who was one of the first users to visit The Merchant on April 15, wrote, "Fantastic coffee shop/bookshop/boutique. Unfortunately, we'd already stopped for coffee elsewhere, so we didn't have a chance to check out their offerings, but everyone who ordered something while we were browsing seemed to enjoy theirs. Staff is super friendly, yet chill. Nice laidback vibe. Will definitely be back to check out the drinks."

The Merchant is open from 8 a.m.–7 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday and 8 a.m.–9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Herb's House Coffee + Company

Herb's House Coffee + Company, situated in Upper Greenville, is a spot to score coffee, tea and light bites.

Guests can expect to find everything from espressos and Americanos to chai lattes and cold brew. There's also a food menu that includes avocado toast, a grilled chicken salad and homemade pastries.

Herb's House Coffee + Company currently holds four stars out of eight reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.

Yelper Charles H., who reviewed Herb's House Coffee + Company on April 3, wrote, "This place occupies the space that used to be Union coffeehouse. I liked the updates they made. House coffee was decent too, from Cultivar. Staff were accommodating and place is kept very clean. Likely to return!"

Janet H. noted, "I'm on a quest to find the best study and work spaces in Dallas, and my excursion to Herb's did not disappoint. I got the Iced Honey Latte and it was delicious. Not too sweet. Baristas are super friendly so that was a plus."

Yelper Siddhant M. wrote, "Amazing coffee, decent prices. The best thing is the ambiance and the employees are the most friendly amazing people I've met in any such place."

Herb's House Coffee + Company is open from 6:30 a.m.–8:30 p.m. on weekdays, 7 a.m.–8:30 p.m. on Saturday, and noon–8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Fiction Coffee

Finally, over in Old East Dallas you'll find Fiction Coffee, a coffee shop that debuted back in January. According to its website, the cafe "exists to strip down the pretentiousness of coffee and give everyone, no matter their level of coffee understanding or experience, the best quality of product that we can give."

The menu features coffeehouse favorites like lattes, macchiatos and cappuccinos, plus morning offerings such as breakfast tacos, sweet treats and more. 

Fiction Coffee's current rating of 4.5 stars out of 17 reviews on Yelp indicates positive attention from users.

Yelper Heather J., who reviewed Fiction Coffee on March 20, wrote, "High quality, low vibe. Employees are warm and efficient; the environment is clever, spare, rich. All things a good cup of coffee should encompass - and Fiction Coffee's drinks and tasty pastries do just that."

Keith B. noted, "Do they know how to make a proper cappuccino? Reading my reviews you'll find I'm pretty picky about that.  Well the answer is a resounding 'yes'! Very smooth, not bitter, just excellent. "
