A new casual restaurant with a European twist has opened in the heart of Lincoln Park. Located at 2221 N. Lincoln Ave. (near Geneva Terrace), 7 Plates Cafe was inspired by the owners' travels through seven countries.
"7 Plates Cafe was born from the desire of bringing under one concept the best of what they’ve learned," from stops in Italy, Germany, Romania and Turkey, among others, the new eatery explains on its website.
Continuing with the numeric theme, the cafe's menu features seven options for each course: appetizers, entrees, salads and desserts. Standouts include the Tuscan Breakfast Bowl (faro, rainbow carrots, Tuscan kale, mushrooms and sunny-side up eggs), lemon ricotta pancakes with maple syrup, tarragon chicken, and polenta with cheese. (See full menu here.)
There are also seven cocktail options, including a martini crafted with Elderflower liqueur, muddled cucumber, vodka and lime, and you'll have your choice of both banquette and bar seating.
7 Plates Cafe has proven popular thus far, with a five-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.
Gabriel T., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 19th, said, "The owners are so lovely. I had the croque madame, as good as those in France. Very charming and cozy place! See you soon!
Yelper Cristiana C. added, “This is a lovely place to eat and relax. The atmosphere is great, the host is welcoming and the food is amazing!”
Head on over to check it out: 7 Plates Cafe is open weekdays from 11 a.m.–9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m.–4 p.m.
