Hungry? A new neighborhood Mexican spot has you covered. Located at 3650 W. Belmont Ave. (between Monticello and Lawndale avenues) on the North Side, the new arrival is the latest outpost for Gorditas Loli's in Chicago.
Gorditas Loli’s specializes in a wide assortment of gorditas, pastries made with masa and stuffed with fillings. At the North Side eatery, fillings include pork skin in salsa verde, steak with poblano peppers and chicken in chipotle sauce. There are also options for the vegetarian crowd, with dried hot peppers in queso and cactus in red sauce.
On the menu, look for other traditional Mexican fare such as burritos, tacos, quesadillas and barbacoa, which is only offered on the weekends.
With a five-star rating out of three reviews on Yelp so far, the new addition is on its way to developing a local fan base.
Justin G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 25th, said, "Friendly, family run, clean, inexpensive, tasty. ... The red and green salsas that are on the table are great. Love the music videos of bandas playing."
Yelper Jamie M. added, “This is exactly what this neighborhood needed! Their speciality is gorditas, which sets them apart from the other Mexican places around here—that and the fact the interior has more effort than most and their service is over the top."
Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Gorditas Loli's is open Tuesday–Saturday from 8am–8pm, and Sunday from 8am–3pm. (It's closed on Monday.)
