A new independently owned Italian spot, offering pizza and gelato, has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 2101 W. North Ave. (at N. Hoyne Ave.) in Wicker Park, the fresh arrival is called Knead Pizza.

“Knead is my take on Neapolitan-style pizza, great genuine food that you can eat every day, with the highest quality ingredients,” Knead owner Mike Waicekauskas tells Eater Chicago.

Located in a long-vacant corner storefront, Knead crafts thin-crust pies like the classic Margherita and the "Alice in Wonderland," topped with prosciutto, arugula and shaved parmesan. The menu also includes pasta and three salads: house, caesar and beet arugula.

With lots of wrought iron accents and stainless steel, the modern space features a large kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows and a cozy dining room.

Knead Pizza has made a good impression thus far, with a four-star rating out of 10 reviews on Yelp.

Kristen M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 9th, said, "My new favorite pizza! Knead's pizza crust is to die for. Unbelievable. The pizza selection and drink selection was well thought out to cater to everyone."

Yelper San-San D. added, “My new go-to for pie! The crust is my favorite. Ingredients tasted very fresh and flavorful. Charming and cozy inside. Family friendly and not your bar/sports vibe."

Head on over to check it out: Knead Pizza is open Friday and Saturday from 5pm–11pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday from 5pm–10pm. (It's closed on Monday.)
