Poke Poké continues to expand its poke vision in Chicago with the opening of a third fast-casual eatery. Located at 802 W. Belmont Ave. (between Halsted and Dayton streets) in Lakeview, the new spot takes over the former location of the FireFin Poke Shop.
Offering build-your-own bowls of the popular Hawaiian dish with Asian roots, diners can select a base of rice, greens or noodles; choose a protein, traditionally sushi-grade fish; add toppings like seasoned fish roe, pickled radishes and edamame; and select from a variety of sauces, including spicy mayo, creamy wasabi and Thai mango. For the finishing touch, there are crispy onions, nori or tempura crunch.
The regular bowl with three protein scoops costs $10.95, and the large bowl with five protein scoops is $13.95.
For those who still can't make up their mind, the restaurant offers four signature bowls and three specialty bento boxes, which range in price from $9.95-$24.95. Look for the king crab bento with salmon roe. (See the full menu here.)
Poke Poké says on its website that it's "constantly experimenting with ingredients in our kitchen to only serve what is fresh, delicious and exciting."
With a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Poke Poké seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Michael V., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 29th, said, "This is my new favorite poke place in Chicago. While my all-time favorite poke is found in the back of random grocery stores in Hawaii, I absolutely love the variety and mixture you can make in a single bowl here. The ahi was super fresh and the spicy ahi had some kick. The vegetable selection was great too."
Yelper Alyssa M. added, “This was my first poke experience, but I'm already so in love! Everything was fresh and delicious and so flavorful! Will definitely be back!”
