A new Mexican spot has made its debut in River North. The new arrival to the neighborhood, called Pink Taco, is located at 431 N. Wells St.
With locations in Los Angeles, Pink Taco is expanding to cities like Chicago, Boston, Portland and Miami. It's also planning to unleash a Pink Taco food truck into the Windy City, so keep your eyes open for that.
The eatery serves lunch and dinner, as well as daily happy hours from 3-7 p.m. Not surprisingly, Taco Tuesdays are a big deal, with food and drink specials starting at 4 p.m.
Pink Taco offers a range of tacos, which come three to an order along with two sides. The Ape (sweet potato three ways, cactus salsa, cotija cheese on corn tortillas) and the Fried Lobster (lobster, chipotle mayo, mango habanero salsa, sliced avocado, cabbage slaw on flour tortillas) are notable menu standouts.
Other popular menu items include the Vegan Taco Bowl (grilled mushrooms, squash & zucchini, cilantro rice, bean salad, salsa verde, pico and diced avocado), the Carne Asada Enchiladas (marinated steak, red chile sauce, jack cheese with Mexican crema), and the fajitas.
The fresh arrival has gotten off to a solid start thus far, with a four-star rating out of 27 reviews on Yelp.
Latuya G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 21, said, "Super cute and fun atmosphere! We had the Mexican bread pudding and frozen mimosa. Super yummy. The Mexican bread pudding I'll definitely come back for."
“Great first impressions," added Sarah Jane G. "Went on a Sunday evening. Not too packed, had very attentive service sitting at the bar. Decor is super inviting and fun.”
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Pink Taco is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday and Sunday, 11 a.m.–midnight on Tuesday-Thursday, and 11–2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
