A New American restaurant and bar with a Southern twist has made its debut in the neighborhood. Located at 2423 N. Clark St. (between Arlington Pl. & Fullerton Ave.) in Lincoln Park, the fresh addition is called Drawl Southern Cook House & Whiskey Room.

“Drawl combines the energy and style of a New American restaurant with the comfort of Southern food," says Chef Justin Stadler, a partner in the restaurant, on Drawl's website. "We’re not your typical fried chicken and barbecue joint.”

The restaurant makes full use of its wood-fired oven, with tasso-spiced jerky, smoked pork, brisket and barbecue short ribs served with crispy Brussels sprouts and blistered tomatoes.

Drawl has converted a private room used by the former occupant—shuttered sports bar LP Stadium—into a 20-person space for whiskey tastings, reports Eater Chicago. The drink list is extensive, with flights of bourbon and more than three dozen whiskey options.

With a five-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, the new whiskey bar and eatery is on its way to developing a local fan base.

David S., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on March 29th, said, "Decor was fresh, bright, and had a cozy feel—like a warm hug from your Southern aunt ... The staff was friendly, attentive and seemed to be on point. We will definitely come back."

And James A. said, "We had whiskey cocktails and my only constructive criticism would be to have the bartender know a tad bit more about the whiskey they offer, but I assume this will improve with time ... Overall amazing experience and I can tell it will only improve. Highly recommended."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Drawl Southern Cook House & Whiskey Room is open Tuesday–Sunday from 5pm–2am. (It's closed on Monday.)
