Longtime Santa Monica eatery Greek Cuisine Stop'n Cafe has closed its doors after three decades in the neighborhood.

According to a message posted to the restaurant's Facebook page, its final day in business was April 15:

As we celebrate our 30th year in business, we would like to thank you for allowing us to serve you and be a part of your family. After 3 decades of service to our community we have decided to pass on this beautiful location to the next generation of entrepreneurs.

We will close our doors after this coming weekend and it is our sincere hope that you welcome the new business here with the same love and loyalty you've honored us with.

The family-owned restaurant debuted on the 3rd Street Promenade in 1988. It served a variety of Greek specialties, from hummus and falafel to avgolemono soup, kebabs and gyros.

Greek Cuisine Stop'n Cafe was well-liked among its clientele, with a 3.5-star rating out of 267 reviews on Yelp. There's no word yet on what might be replacing the local favorite.
