Burger fans, take heed: There's a new spot in town to get your fix. Now located in Lake Highlands at 8185 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 1400, is the Hat Creek Burger Company.
The Austin-based fast-food chain made its Dallas debut in McKinney last October. This new Lake Highlands spot is one of four slated to open in the area this year.
Hat Creek got its start as a food truck in Austin and is best known for its never-frozen hamburger patties and inventive milkshakes — like the Dirt Worms milkshake mixed with Oreos and chocolate and topped with gummy worms.
Additional menu offerings include breakfast tacos, sandwiches and platters, like its signature breakfast platter with organic egg, sausage or bacon, spicy sauerkraut and a choice of cheese.
With a 3.5-star rating out of 16 reviews on Yelp so far, Hat Creek Burger Company has made a promising start.
Janet J., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 18, said, "Pretty solid. I popped in there on a Friday around 2:45, and it wasn't packed at all. Grabbed an avocado BLT, tots and a drink. Crisp bacon, perfectly grilled TX Toast, quite yummy."
“Definitely a place for parents and kids," shared Yelper Sarah F. "Had lunch at 12 p.m. on a Friday with a 4- and 6-year-old. Food was good and delivered in a timely fashion. Order was accurate. The kids really enjoyed the play structure. The outside sink is plain genius!”
And Pam C. said, "My friend and I really enjoyed our lunch. I had the classic and she had the bacon cheddar chicken. We both loved our burgers! The tater tots and fried pickles were also very good. Don't miss the sauce bar to dip your pickles and tots. The staff was very friendly and they offer 10% law enforcement discount, which they extended to my friend."
Head on over to check it out: Hat Creek Burger Company is open from 7 a.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday–Thursday and 7 a.m.–9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
