Hoodline crunched the numbers, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the top Indian restaurants around Dallas.

1. Charcoal Avenue

Topping the list is family-run Charcoal Avenue, a fast-serve restaurant near the University of Texas at Dallas that serves both Indian and Mediterranean fare. Located at 17509 Coit Rd. in Far North, the spot is the top-rated Indian eatery in the city, boasting 4.5 stars out of 84 reviews on Yelp.

On the menu, look for a selection of rice bowls like tikka chicken, spiced grilled beef and falafel. Other offerings include an assortment of halal fast food like burgers, wings and fries. (You can view the full menu here.)

2. Spice In The City Dallas

Next up is Downtown's Spice In The City Dallas, which is situated at 1512 Commerce St. With four stars out of 252 reviews on Yelp, the Indian and Tex-Mex fusion kitchen is a proven local favorite.

The restaurant serves classic Indian dishes, like organic, grass-fed chateau steak with a cinnamon and curry spice blend, slow-simmered in a savory spinach saag. 3. Shivas Bar & Grill

Lowest Greenville's Shivas Bar & Grill, located at 1907 Greenville Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the restaurant four stars out of 225 reviews.

On the menu, look for an assortment of appetizers and tandoor dishes like chili shrimp with pepper soy sauce, lamb kebabs, and tandoori chicken. Mumbai Grill, a fine-dining Indian spot in Far North Dallas, is another go-to, with four stars out of 146 Yelp reviews. The eatery is located at 17370 Preston Rd.

5. 8 Cloves

Lastly, there's Downtown's 8 Cloves, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 48 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Indian and brunch spot at 920 S. Harwood St.

Popular items include the Thali Platter, which is an Indian-style meal made of various dishes. If you're heading to 8 Cloves for brunch, consider the desi custard French toast topped with powdered sugar and mango-puree or  scrambled roti wrap with cage-free eggs, chopped tomato, green onions and green chili.
