Izakaya RoMan
3211 Oak Lawn Ave., Oak Lawn

Izakaya RoMan is an izakaya and sushi bar. This laid-back izakaya serves up Japanese fare, including sushi rolls, sashimi and yakitori skewers, as well as sake offerings.
With a four-star Yelp rating out of seven reviews, Izakaya RoMan has been getting positive attention.
Yelper Erica C., who reviewed the eatery on June 16, wrote, "We had early dinner yesterday — edamame, sushi and yakitori. The restaurant looks great, staff was friendly, the food was pretty good."
Yelper Brian D. added, "We were absolutely blown away by the quality of all the food items! The rolls were fantastic with fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked rice. The sashimi was the big test. Most places can get rolls right, but fail at the sashimi. Our fresh salmon was buttery and served at the perfect temperature.”
Izakaya RoMan is open from 5–11 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday and 5 p.m.–midnight on Thursday-Saturday.
Poke Bop
4140 Abrams Road, Lakewood

Poke Bop is an Asian fusion spot, offering poke and more.
You can choose from one of its signature poke bowls, like the Poke Bop Classic (ahi tuna, sweet onion, scallions, hijiki seaweed, cucumber, kaiware, sesame oil, sesame seeds and soy sauce) or Tommy's Special (cured salmon, seaweed salad, hijiki seaweed, mango, spicy aioli and more), or you can build your own.
Yelpers are generally positive about Poke Bop, which currently holds four stars out of 38 reviews on the site.
Rebecca O., who reviewed the fast-casual spot on June 16, wrote, "This place is awesome and all of their ingredients are super fresh! All of the staff is extremely friendly and professional. I also really like how they go 'Poke Pokeeeee' every time someone walks in the door!"
Yelper Walt M. wrote, " Very good. Super clean new place. Happy hour is weekdays from 2–6 p.m. with 50 percent off beer, wine and sake."

Zaap Kitchen

Zaap Kitchen is a Laotian, Thai and Asian fusion spot that serves up street food dishes.
Laotian dishes include Sizzling Lao Sausage, Dancing Garlic Riblets and Juicy Pork Shoulder Bites. It also has curries, noodles, fried rice and stir-fries, soups and salads. (Check out the full menu here.)
Zaap Kitchen currently holds four stars out of 111 reviews on Yelp, indicating good reviews.
Yelper Andy B., who was one of the first users to visit, wrote, "Laotian and Thai awesomeness, thy name is Zaap. This place is great! I've been twice already and ordered a bunch of different dishes. Their food is very authentic tasting."
Chad D. noted, "This is a fast-casual concept where you order at the counter and have a seat. The food is brought out to you, but you grab your own drink and plasticware. First impressions of the space is that it's modern and comfortable. The owner was really nice and made it a point to engage and answer questions."
