If you've tired of your old haunts and are in search of a new favorite dim sum spot, try thinking outside the cart.
Hoodline crunched the numbers, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best places for hargow, siu mai, xiaolongbao and more in Sacramento — and the results may surprise you.
1. ABC Bakery

Topping the list is ABC Bakery. Located at 1309 Florin Road, Suite F in South Land Park, its baked and steamed dim sum items are the highest-rated in Sacramento, boasting 4.5 stars out of 441 reviews on Yelp.
Although lacking the large variety of a traditional dim sum restaurant, ABC's offerings are reasonably priced and available by the dozen, as well as individually. Yelpers recommend the hot dog buns and egg custard tarts.
2. Lam Kwong Market

Next up is Richmond Grove's Lam Kwong Market, situated at 2031 12th St. With four stars out of 191 reviews on Yelp, the grocery store and deli has proven to be a local favorite, particularly for its takeout dim sum fare.
Yelpers praise the char siu bao (barbecue pork buns) and shrimp shu mai, as well as the affordable prices. Diners should be aware that Lam Kwong is cash-only.
3. Ming Dynasty

The more traditional dim sum spot Ming Dynasty, located at 1211 Broadway in Land Park, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the relatively recent arrival four stars out of 57 reviews.
By night, Ming Dynasty is a full-service Cantonese restaurant and banquet hall with offerings like Peking duck, but it serves dim sum on carts in its large space every morning and early afternoon. On the carts, look for chicken feet, open sea-bass dumplings, shrimp-stuffed sticky rice balls topped with a piece of pork belly, and garlic beef spare ribs.
