Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top sports bars in New Orleans, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to go for booze, bites and TVs tuned to the game.

1. Cooter Brown's

Topping the list is Cooter Brown's. Located Uptown at 509 S. Carrollton Ave., this classic haunt, which offers sandwiches, seafood and more, is the highest rated sports bar in New Orleans, boasting four stars out of 384 reviews on Yelp.

After a day at the Audubon Zoo or an afternoon throwing a Frisbee at The Fly, head over to this joint for fresh oysters on the half shell, po'boys, muffaletta sandwiches, burgers, boudin balls and baskets of fried seafood. 

2. Good Friends Bar

Next up is the French Quarter's Good Friends Bar. Situated 740 Dauphine St., this multi-level venue features karaoke every Tuesday and signature cocktails. With 4.5 stars out of 92 reviews on Yelp, the gay bar and sports bar has proven to be a local favorite.

"Lots of fun here," Yelper Jake L. said. "There are some things you can't unsee and that's why we were there. The bartender boys were friendly, funny and nice to us. If we come back to NOLA we will be coming back for fresh squeezed mimosas. Thanks, guys."

3. The Rusty Nail

Lower Garden District's The Rusty Nail, located at 1100 Constance St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the sports bar and lounge four stars out of 169 reviews.

Chill out on the establishment's outdoor patio and sample flights of scotch or beer and shot combinations like the Bob, which includes a bottle of Miller High Life and a shot of Jameson; the Gunther, featuring a can of Founder's All Day IPA and a shot of Cynar; and the El Guapo, combining a shot of Altos Plata and a can of Tecate. 

4. American Sports Saloon

American Sports Saloon, a sports bar and New American spot in the French Quarter, is another go-to, with four stars out of 129 Yelp reviews. Head over to 1200 Decatur St. to see for yourself.

Belly up to the bar and order a draft beer like Voodoo Pale Ale, Space Dust IPA and Ragin' Cajuns Kölsch to wash down menu items like fried pickles and jalapeños, chili cheese fries, nachos, burgers, club sandwiches and onion rings.

5. J&J's Sports Lounge

Finally, there's J&J's Sports Lounge, a Bywater favorite with 4.5 stars out of 30 reviews. Stop by 800 France St. to hit up the lounge and sports bar next time the urge strikes.

On its website, this joint boasts of having all the NFL and MLB televised sports packages, a huge projector screen, 12 beers on tap, pool tables, a jukebox, courtyard seating and the coldest air conditioning in town. The bar even features European soccer matches.
