Johnny's Takeaway in West Roxbury opened this spring with a rotating menu of lunch and dinner options for you to heat up at home or at the office.
The newcomer is led by longtime Boston chef Johnny Burke (The Butcher Shop, Belly Wine Bar), with a goal of "giving access to delicious ready-to-eat meals for busy folks and families," the business explains on its website.
Recent menu choices have included a shrimp and soba noodle bowl, a sweet potato shepherd's pie and Spanish chicken meatballs.
The takeout spot says meals contain no refined sugar, processed foods or white gluten, and are sold in recyclable fiber containers. Order ahead online with weekly menus released on Sundays, or stop in for a grab-and-go container from the in-store cooler.
The new addition has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a five-star rating from five reviews on Yelp.
Alex M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on May 11, said, "All I can say is, wow. I bought a few meals for my team at work and everyone was blown away. The owner, Johnny, provided great customer service and you can just tell he has a ton of experience by the way he talks about his food."
Yelper Erin B. added, “I love that all of the chef's ingredients are listed on the meal containers themselves. No mystery ingredients. Good, clean food.”
Head on over to check it out: Johnny's Takeaway is open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday. (It's closed on weekends.)
