Taco fans, take heed: there's a new spot in town to get your fix. Located at 213 W. Eighth St. in Oak Cliff, the new arrival is called Taco y Vino.
Taco y Vino is a taqueria and wine bar from chef Sharon Van Meter and wine professional Jimmy Contreras. According to Culture Map Dallas, the new taco spot wants to demystify wine by pairing it with casual yet boldly flavored tacos.
Taco offerings include the Blackened Baja (seasoned catfish with plancha chipotle aioli, tomatoes and pickled onions), Cochinita Pibil (pulled pork braised in pineapple and achiote with cabbage, carrots and pickled onions) and the barbacoa (braised beef cheek, slaw, cilantro crema and queso fresco). You can choose to turn any taco into a quesadilla instead.
Other menu items include the seafood-stuffed jalapeño, spicy tamale bites and the Oak Cliff Ensalada.
With a five-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp so far, Taco y Vino seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Lisa W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 10, said, "Great atmosphere and fantastic tacos and wine. We started with the seafood-stuffed jalapeño. It was so good, [the] perfect small portion to truly get the meal started. For the main, I got the catfish taco, avocado taco and jackfruit taco. Everything was delicious!"
Yelper Minty M. wrote, "On opening night, Taco y Vino was packed with happy customers who were sipping wine and eating tacos to beat the summer heat. The tacos were some of the best in the neighborhood and the wine selection was solid ... the homemade salsas are to die for!"
Head on over to check it out: Taco y Vino is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sunday.
