A new casual eatery has made its debut in the neighborhood. Located at 4121 N. Westmoreland Road, the newcomer is called Da Munchies. It serves up comfort and street foods with an entire section of its menu devoted to vegetarian and vegan versions.
The menu, split between omnivores and herbivores, includes dishes like the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, the Super Munchie Dogs (two hot dogs covered in chili, cheese, beef and pico de gallo), the Oyster Mushroom Po'boy topped with vegan tartar sauce and the So Crunchy Cauli Burger (breaded and fried cauliflower steak served on a bun with greens, tomato and vegan pesto mayo). With a five-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Da Munchies seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Yelper Mykel D., who was the first to review it on June 19, wrote, “Seriously good vegan comfort food. Fried amazingly by a super kind owner. Best vegan food I've had in a long time.”
