A new spot for Asian noodle soups has made its debut in the neighborhood. Located at 779 Centre St. in Jamaica Plain, the new addition is called Soup Shack.

Ramen lovers will find plenty of favorites on the menu here, from classic tonkotsu (a rich pork broth) to spicy tan tan men. But the noodle party doesn't stop there: Vietnamese pho and Thai noodle soups like khao soi — a creamy coconut curry soup with chicken — are also available. Round out the meal with some snacks like takoyaki (octopus balls) or edamame.

With a 4.5-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, Soup Shack is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Yelper Kevin L., who reviewed Soup Shack on June 24, wrote, "This is a great addition to JP. The restaurant specializes in noodles — Vietnamese pho, Japanese ramen, and Thai noodle soup. It has a sushi counter setup, which is great for small parties but more difficult for parties greater than four. I also enjoyed the open concept where I can watch the chef prepare my meal."

Yelper Jim C. added, “We had been waiting for this new noodle place to open in JP. And it didn't disappoint! I ordered fried shishamo (smelt) and tonkotsu ramen. The smelt was tasty but a bit over-fried. The ramen, on the other hand, was really delicious! It came with a lot of toppings and the broth was full of umami flavor."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Soup Shack is open from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
