Market 5-One-5

Head over to 915 R St. and you'll find Market 5-One-5, a new organic grocery store and deli. The project by the owners of Raley's Supermarkets aims to anchor the revitalization of the R Street Corridor as the first new downtown grocery store in decades.
In addition to sustainable staples, the market offers minimally processed foods from its large takeout section, which diners can enjoy with beer, wine and kombucha on-site in an outdoor seating area.
Co Do 2

Co Do 2 is a Vietnamese spot that recently opened at 4251 Truxel Road, Suite C1. This second location for the popular Stockton Blvd. eatery Co Do also showcases its signature spicy beef noodle soup, bun bo hue, along with its better-known cousin phở.
Also on the menu are vermicelli noodle bowls, stir-fried dishes and a variety of Vietnamese-style specialty drinks like milk tea, smoothies and fresh lemon soda.
Toasted

Wander over to 1424 14th St. downtown and you'll find Toasted, a healthy fast-food joint serving up toasts topped with avocado, pears and more, from its space next door to its sister smoothie shop, Cap City Squeeze. Diners should keep in mind: Seating and beverages are limited.
Echo & Rig

Echo & Rig is a steakhouse that recently opened downtown at 500 J St. The upscale Las Vegas transplant has brought with it the concept of an in-house butcher to enhance its offerings, which range from steakhouse standbys like rib-eye and T-bone to cuts like hanger and flat iron.
Hop Gardens Taproom

Hop Gardens Taproom is a beer garden offering pizza and more that recently opened at 2904 Franklin Blvd. in Curtis Park.
A large back patio provides plenty of seating, and the beer list features local craft beers as well as acclaimed out-of-town breweries like Barebottle of San Francisco and Burgeon of Carlsbad. The focus of the food menu is pizzas, with pies like the Sweet Pig (pepperoni, bacon, mozzarella and chile-infused honey).
