Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top spots to score deep-fried pastries in New Orleans, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best places to venture next time you're on the hunt.

1. Café Du Monde

Topping the list is Café Du Monde at 800 Decatur St. near the French Market. The legendary spot to score coffee and beignets is the most popular destination for deep-fried pastries in New Orleans, boasting four stars out of 11,821 reviews on Yelp.

Famous for its New Orleans-style beignets and coffee with chicory, the establishment has open-air seating and is situated across from Jackson Square in the French Quarter. Check out some art then settle in with a café au lait or a hot chocolate so you can dunk an order of beignets.

2. District Donuts Sliders Brew

Next up is District Donuts Sliders Brew, situated at 2209 Magazine St. With 4.5 stars out of 1,488 reviews on Yelp, the Garden District spot to score coffee and tea, doughnuts and burgers has proven to be a local favorite.

Get ready for coconut mango, chocolate glazed and carrot cake doughnuts plus an assortment of savory fare like pork belly breakfast tacos, spicy smoked sausage kolaches and a croque madame with ham, havarti cheese, bechamel and a sunny-side up egg on a griddled doughnut.

3. Blue Dot Donuts

Over in Mid-City, Blue Dot Donuts features a wide assortment of freshly made glazed, filled, cake, buttermilk and specialty doughnuts. The shop at 4301 Canal St. has earned four stars out of 181 reviews on Yelp. 

Look for raspberry doughnuts topped with powdered sugar, chocolate iced with coconut, Bavarian cream and an assortment of doughnut holes. The establishment also offers king cakes. 

4. The Buttermilk Drop

Last but not least, there's The Buttermilk Drop, a Treme favorite with four stars out of 139 reviews. Stop by 1781 N. Dorgenois St. to hit up the bakery, which offers desserts, doughnuts and more, next time you're in the mood for something sweet.

The shop features buttermilk drops plus an assortment of glazed, cream- and jelly-filled doughnuts along with a menu that boasts breakfast fare with a Southern twist like shrimp and grits, shrimp and hash, hot sausage patties, eggs and biscuits.
