A new sushi bar and ramen spot has opened its doors in Waltham. Called Hakata Ramen & Sushi, the newcomer is located at 895 Main St., the former home of Sabatino’s Italian Kitchen.

Husband-and-wife team Simon Su and Jing Zhang are behind the new location of Hakata, which also has locations in Boston's Back Bay and in Quincy.

As its name suggests, Hakata does double duty with a duo of Japanese specialties. On the ramen side, diners can opt for creamy pork tonkotsu, spicy pork tan tan men, or vegetarian tomato-based ramen, among other varieties.

As for the sushi side of the menu, there's spicy tuna, eel avocado or California rolls, among other options. Diners can also opt for nigiri or sashimi.

With a 4.5-star rating out of 13 reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Mike U., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 24, wrote, "Been here three times, and the ramen has been great. The portions are not as big as some other ramen restaurants, but since we order appetizers it ends up being the perfect amount of food."

And Em R. wrote, "What a great addition to the Waltham area! I'll now have a closer option when I'm craving for a good bowl of ramen. Decent broth, good noodle texture, generous portion, and great variety of toppings."

Head on over to check it out: Hakata Ramen & Sushi is open from 11:30 a.m.–9:30 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11:30 a.m.–10:30 p.m. on Friday, noon–10:30 p.m. on Saturday, and noon–9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
