A new fast-casual Mexican spot has opened in the neighborhood. The newcomer to the West Side, called Catrina's Mexican Restaurant, is located at 84 Wabasha St. South, Suite 3. This location marks the restaurant group's third location in the Twin Cities area.
This eatery lets you build your own meal by choosing a base of three tacos, a burrito, a bowl or a salad. Next, add on rice and beans before selecting a protein (chicken, beef, pork, barbacoa, al pastor, carnitas or chorizo). Finally, add extras like sour cream, jalapeño or cilantro and top it off with salsa. Other menu options include quesadillas, tortas, tostadas and nachos.
It's still early days for the fledgling business — it's got just two reviews on Yelp thus far.
Ashley H., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on July 14, wrote, "Their portion sizes are generous and incredibly flavorful. The salsa options are wonderful and range from mild to spicy. Their steak tacos are juicy and not overdone, and their chicken and beef tinga tacos are amazing. The staff were also very friendly and ensured we had a wonderful experience."
