Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top sushi outlets in New Orleans, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to satisfy your cravings.
1. Asuka Sushi & Hibachi

Topping the list is Asuka Sushi & Hibachi. Located at 7912 Earhart Blvd. in Gert Town, the Japanese joint is the highest rated sushi spot in New Orleans, boasting 4.5 stars out of 256 reviews on Yelp.
Get ready for bites like baked salmon with snow crab, masago, and eel sauce; fried jalapeños stuffed with snow crab and masago; and tempura fried avocado with spicy tuna, cream cheese, snow crab and eel sauce. Asuka offers house special rolls like the Metairie, filled with tuna, snow crab and avocado; the tiger eye, with smoked salmon, cream cheese and jalapeño; and the crazy roll, made with tempura shrimp, spicy tuna, avocado and masago.
2. Mikimoto

Next up is Gert Town's Mikimoto, situated at 3301 S. Carrollton Ave. With four stars out of 273 reviews on Yelp, this traditional Japanese eatery has proven to be a local favorite.
Look out for appetizers like mussels baked in wasabi roe; freshly baked yellowtail necks; baked scallops with garlic, lemon and enaki mushrooms; and tuna tartare with red onion, cilantro and smelt roe. Mikimoto serves tempura fried oysters, shrimp, vegetables and calamari; clam soup with miso broth; cucumber, squid, noodle or seaweed salads; a selection of rice plates; Udon; and a number of sashimi and sushi options.
3. Chiba

Leonidas' Chiba, located at 8312 Oak St., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the location four stars out of 241 reviews.
Pop over for happy hour sake and snacks like seaweed cucumber salads; pork or mushroom gyoza; crawfish fried rice, poke salads or spicy tuna rolls. The establishment gives the option for brown rice and soy paper to accompany its sushi, sashimi, and ubiquitous roll offerings — and tempts with desserts like blueberry or banana tempura bread pudding.
4. Sushi Brothers

Sushi Brothers in Central City is another go-to, with four stars out of 227 Yelp reviews. See for yourself at 1612 St. Charles Ave.
"This hidden gem is the perfect dine-in sushi spot," Yelper Elizabeth K. said. "You get a hot towel when you sit down and a broth soup as a complimentary appetizer. There are a wide variety of rolls (even for punks like me who don't love raw fish), their portion sizes are good, and there's sushi-bar seating."
5. Tsunami Sushi

Last but not least on the list is the Central Business District's Tsunami Sushi, which has earned four stars out of 164 reviews on Yelp. You can find the cocktail bar and Asian fusion spot at 601 Poydras St.
The menu at this high-end haunt includes items like fresh fried oysters served with wasabi tartar sauce; shishito peppers with shrimp tempura and umami sauce; pork dumplings with fresh cilantro; an assortment of sashimi and sushi; and sushi rolls like the big easy, filled with crawfish, snow crab, tempura shrimp and cucumber; and the candy cane, full of panko sea bass, tuna, cream cheese, asparagus and Kazan sauce.
