
A new cocktail and tapas bar has opened for business in the neighborhood. Called Izkina, the newcomer is located at 2801 Elm St. in Deep Ellum. It's located in the brand-new Deep Ellum Hostel.
Serving up Spanish-influenced cocktails and tapas, you'll find drinks like the Señora Asesin (Absolut Elyx, strawberry shrub, lemon and cava), the Melódica (Spanish brandy, Priorat vermut, maraschino and lemon oil) and the Rosado Sangria (Grenache rose, sherry, agave and pineapple). It also has beers and wines.
Tapas include the albondegas (meatballs, sofrito and herbs), pescaditos (fried anchovies, spicy aioli and lemon), meat and cheese boards (served with house pickles, tomato jam, mustard and bread), various quesos, Spanish tinned fish and more. (See the full menu here.)
With just one review on Yelp thus far, Izkina currently has a five-star rating.
Delilah C., who reviewed the new spot on July 21, wrote, "From the lights, to the seating, to the bar and the walls, everything was so clean and crisp. Just beautifully simple. ... I ordered two tapas from the hot plate menu, patatas bravas and pescaditos. The presentation was beautiful and the flavor was an explosion in my mouth."
