A new honky-tonk bar has opened its doors in the neighborhood. Called Mama Tried, the fresh addition is located at 215 Henry St. in Deep Ellum. The new spot boasts live country music, country DJs and events.
According to CultureMap Dallas, the new place is named for a Merle Haggard song and has 5,500 square feet of interior space, which includes an 80-foot-long bar and stage, plus an additional 7,500 square feet out on the patio, which also has a stage and its own 40-foot shipping container to serve as a bar.
Regardless of which bar you're ordering from, it's got 24 beers on tap and a Texas-themed menu curated by chef Roe DiLeo, a former contestant on the television show "Hell's Kitchen."
Yelpers are excited about Mama Tried, which currently holds four stars out of four reviews on the site.
Yelper Lauren V., who reviewed it on July 7, wrote, "Great addition to Deep Ellum! There's a huge patio out back that I can't wait to take advantage of when the weather cools and a large indoor area with the all-important chilly AC for these ridiculously hot summer days."
Mitchy M. noted, "Good neighborhood place. Vintage country music DJs. Don't sleep on the kitchen menu. Another large patio in Deep Ellum."
Mama Tried is open from 4 p.m.–2 a.m. Monday-Thursday, 3 p.m.–2 a.m. on Friday, and 1 p.m.–2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
