Interested in trying some new desserts in Boston? You're in luck: we've found the freshest businesses to fill the bill. Here are the newest places to check out the next time you're in the mood for something sweet.
Gelato & Chill
19 Drydock Ave., South Boston

Gelato & Chill is not a buddy cop movie — it's a gelato shop. Made in small, handmade batches, you'll find gelato flavors like Almost Cheesecake, which has robiola cheese, pistachios and a raspberry coulis, or tiramisù, with mascarpone cheese and coffee.
There are sorbets as well including blood red orange and pistachio; most of the sorbets are vegan friendly. Check out the popsicle versions, too.
Gelato & Chill has a five-star Yelp rating from just one review.
Yelper Christina L., who reviewed it on June 21, wrote, "I was torn between the espresso and the peach. I got the peach, and I was not disappointed! This flavor was made with real peaches, which can be seen from the pieces of peaches and peach skin."
Gelato & Chill is open from noon–5 p.m. on weekdays. (It's closed on weekends.)
J.P. Licks
24 District Ave., South Bay

Next up is J.P. Licks, a locally based ice cream chain. Flavors include the classic (cookies and cream), the intriguing (Meyer's rum raisin) and the globally inspired — the Chamango is a mix of mango ice cream and ice cream flavored with chamoy, a Mexican condiment made from fermented fruit that is at once sweet, salty, spicy and sour.
There are plenty of gluten-free and vegan options available as well. This South Bay outlet boasts plenty of seating.
With a three-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp, JP Licks is still finding its way.
Yelper Kim P., who reviewed the shop on July 4, wrote, "Somehow this feels like the biggest J.P. Licks I've been in, and I think I've been in nearly all of them in the greater Boston area. All the same offerings as all the other stores. If you're hankering for some ice cream in South Bay, this is a good place to stop."
JP Licks is open from 10 a.m.–10 p.m. daily.
Magnolia Bakery
200 Faneuil Hall Market Place, North End

New York-based dessert spot Magnolia Bakery is famous for its banana pudding. This new Boston location gets its own version: the Boston Cream Pie Banana Pudding.
In addition to pudding, there are classic (vanilla, chocolate) and specialty cakes (devil's food, red velvet), pies, cookies and brownies. Find it at the west end of the Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
Yelpers are still warming up to Magnolia Bakery, which currently holds 3.5 stars out of 39 reviews on the site.
Dan B., who reviewed it July 13, wrote, "The banana pudding had been highly recommended to me, and I have to give this place its due respect. It's indeed five stars just for the banana pudding alone that I tried. Truly something to enjoy when you're in the mood to indulge a bit, and the location can't be beat."
Magnolia Bakery is open from 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m.–7 p.m. on Sunday.
