Hungry? A new neighborhood Tex-Mex spot has you covered. Called El Vecino, the fresh addition is located at 4514 Travis St., Suite 201, in Oak Lawn. This is the restaurant's second location; the original is in East Dallas.
The menu offers options like street tacos, corn tortillas filled with your choice of chicken, steak, brisket or shrimp, served with Mexican rice and black beans; a trio that includes brisket enchilada with guajillo sauce, chicken mole enchilada and shrimp enchilada with poblano cream; and beef tenderloin and chorizo grilled on a skewer with onion, tomato and serrano peppers. With a 4.5-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp so far, El Vecino has been warmly received by patrons.
James S., who was among the first to review the new spot on August 6, said, "Great chips, enchiladas, tacos and quesadillas. Very attentive service to boot. Tomatillo sauce was spot on. Salsa wasn't my favorite, but that was the only thing that didn't nail it for me. Some of the best Tex-Mex in Dallas."
Yelper Mary C. added, "Nice addition to our neighborhood. Super friendly staff and great food. The bartenders are exceptional and make lots of special margaritas. They have a big covered outdoor balcony too."
