Añejo Mexican Bistro
First up is Añejo Mexican Bistro, which is serving cocktails and Mexican fare made with local ingredients. Located at 599 Main St., it's owned by the team behind Añejo Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar in Falmouth.
Start off with black bean soup, coconut calamari or chorizo mussels. Noteworthy main dishes include the tuna poke tostada, chile rellenos and pork carnitas tacos. (See the full menu here.) Expect a long list of tequila to choose from and a sunny patio on clear days.
Ristorante Milanese
Ristorante Milanese recently opened at 302 Main St. Formerly, Casa Peru Fusion, it's now serving Italian cuisine in a white tablecloth setting.
You'll find starters like mussels with smoked tomatoes in a white wine butter sauce, and asparagus and artichokes with prosciutto. There are classic pasta dishes like carbonara and bolognese along with entrees such as chicken Marsala, pan-seared scallops over risotto and braised lamb shank. A small selection of pizzas are also on offer.
Mr. Kabab
Next up, at 199 Falmouth Road, you'll find Mr. Kabab. It's in the United Gas station, where you'll order at the counter from a menu of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern classics, served on pita, as a salad or as a platter. Dishes include kafta kebab, shawarma beef and falafel along with sides like hummus and baba ghanoush.
Smith Family Popcorn
Then there's Smith Family Popcorn, now open at 545 Main St. Popcorn lovers can grab a small bag for snacking or order tubs full of flavors both traditional and unusual. There's classic cheese and sea salt caramel, but also cookies and cream, taco and birthday cake. The shop suggests mixes, too; for example, caramel and cheddar together makes the "Chicago mix." A portion of sales goes to local charities. With five stars out of 12 reviews on Yelp, the business is off to a strong start.
