A new spot for rolled ice cream has debuted in the neighborhood. The fresh arrival to Back Bay, called I-CE-NY, is located at 217 Newbury St. Established in Thailand, the international chain now has over 250 shops in Asia and over 20 in the U.S. This is its first foray into Massachusetts.

While you can make your own custom creation, some of the recommended combinations include the Mango Sticky Rice (mango ice cream, mango, Thai coconut-infused sticky rice and coconut sauce), the Want S'mores (chocolate ice cream, graham crackers, toasted marshmallows, Hershey's bar and chocolate sauce) and the Banana Pudding (sweet cream ice cream, Nilla Wafers, banana and caramel sauce).

There are seven ice cream base flavors, 20 mix-ins and more than 32 toppings available. Regardless of what you choose, the shop makes your ice cream right in front of you on a custom-designed metal plate that can get as cold as -15 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the company's website.

The new addition has gotten an enthusiastic response thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 27 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Ashwini P., who reviewed it on Aug. 4, wrote, "One of the best ice cream shops I've been to! ... The store itself is very cute and Instagrammable, with a little area to take pictures. Watching the ice cream mashers make the ice cream was so cool!"

Katrina L. added, "This place is amazing! Perfect location on Newbury St. They can make your ice cream however you want. Service was great and I love how they decorated the store."

Head on over to check it out: I-CE-NY is open from noon–10:30 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m.–10:30 p.m. on weekends.
