A new spot to score freshly roasted coffee has made its debut in the neighborhood. The new addition to Post Office Square, called Intelligentsia, is located at 225 Franklin St. and features communal seating around a marble bar.
Situated on the first floor of the State Street Bank building in the Financial District, this Chicago-based coffee roaster specializes in nitro cold coffee plus offerings like Black Cat classic espresso, Agua Preta Brazil single-origin espresso, organic French roast, a selection of tea and more.
Last summer, it opened its first Boston-area location in Watertown.
Intelligentsia Coffee has received two reviews on Yelp thus far, which gives it five stars.
"It's great to have yet another awesome coffee spot in downtown Boston," wrote Jonathan B., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new coffee bar on Aug. 18. "I was delighted to find the clean aesthetics, great service and, of course, exceptional coffee that Intelligentsia is known for. I had a pour-over of their Tikur Ethiopia, which was clean, bright and delicious."
Yelper Charlie D. added, “I'm so excited to finally see an Intelligentsia in Boston proper. Their coffee is great — flavorful, smooth and not too bitter or acidic."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Intelligentsia Coffee is open from 6:30 a.m.–6 p.m. on weekdays and 7:30 a.m.–4 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
