If barbecue is what you're after, look no further than this new business. Called Lockhart Smokehouse, the newcomer is located at 1650 E. Randol Mill Road, Suite 130, within the new Texas Live! restaurant complex and live music venue. This is the barbecue chain's third location overall; the other two are in Dallas and Plano.
On the menu, you'll see options like brisket (both lean and moist), turkey, half or whole chicken and the shoulder clod (leaner than brisket with a stronger beef flavor). There are also pork chops and ribs, sausages and sides like potato salad, brisket deviled eggs and smoked baked beans.
With a 3.5-star rating out of five reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh arrival seems to be off to a solid start.
Moto S., who reviewed the barbecue spot on Aug. 23, wrote, "The ribs were pretty big, got two of them to a half pound, the brisket had good flavor and was moist and tender and, while I really don't care for the course grind sausage they use — one reason because it tends to fall apart some — it was really good as well."
Yelper Rene B. added, “Ribs were good, but the brisket was more on the dry side for me. Really enjoyed the jalapeño mac and cheese, as well as the deviled eggs. As it was in Texas Live!, the atmosphere was good."
Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Lockhart Smokehouse is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.–midnight on Friday-Sunday.
