Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top bike shops in Minneapolis, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of where to venture next time you're in the market for a new set of wheels. 

1. Alternative Bike & Board Shop

Topping the list is Alternative Bike & Board Shop. Located at 3013 Lyndale Ave. South in Uptown, it is the highest rated bike shop in Minneapolis, boasting five stars out of 43 reviews on Yelp.

The store boasts it has the quickest turnaround on bicycle repairs in the city and offers both lifetime and 90-day warranties, per its website. Find bike brand names like Marin, Kona, Felt, Brooklyn, Breezer and more. Bicycle and helmet rentals are on offer to explore the city. Alternative Bike also offers skateboard and surfboard services. 

2. The Hub Bike Co-op

Longfellow's The Hub Bike Co-op, located at 3016 Minnehaha Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the bike shop and repair and maintenance spot 4.5 stars out of 63 reviews. The small chain has three locations around the Twin Cities area.

This spot adheres by the mission statement of "All types of bikes for all types of people," and aims to get everyone on the road. It services bicycles of all shapes and sizes and offers a 90-day limited warranty to its customers. Used bikes are for sale and a representative will offer you a bicycle fitting to make sure you have a mode of transportation that will be comfortable.

3. Perennial Cycle

Then there's Perennial Cycle, which has earned 4.5 stars out of 38 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Uptown bike shop at 3342 Hennepin Ave. Initially established in 1992 for simple repairs, Perennial Cycle rebranded itself and has been operating in its current form since 2016. On its website, the business says it believes "in the power of bikes and trikes to change the way we live and interact with each other, our urban spaces and the spaces between."

Bicycles, electric bikes, tricycles and folding bikes are all on offer, as is gear such as bags, fenders, helmets, accessories and tools. Perennial is a full-service repair shop as well, offering tuning, maintenance, crash assessment and assembly.
