A new Filipino fusion restaurant and caterer has debuted in the neighborhood. Located at 17721 Dallas Parkway, Suite 104, in North Dallas, the newcomer is called Taste The World.

Though the new spot specializes in Filipino cuisine, it also offers Spanish, Chinese, Indian and more, oftentimes fusing international dishes with one another, as its website explains.

On the menu, you'll find dishes like Kaldereta (beef stew with potatoes, carrots, tomato sauce and liver spread), Lechon Kawali (pork belly simmered until tender, then roasted until crisp with rice and vegetables) and Lumpiang Shanghai (bite-sized eggrolls filled with ground pork and vegetables). (See the menu here.)

With a 3.5-star rating out of two reviews on Yelp so far, Taste The World is getting mixed feedback from clientele, but it's still early days.

Jeannette V., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 9, wrote, "We were pleasantly surprised by the authentic Filipino dishes served. My favorite was the longsilog breakfast and paksew! I can't say enough how tasty the food was. Reminded me of my mom's cooking back home."

Yelper Gerard M. added, “Service was decent. Plain rice and bottled soda were good. That's about it. Most of the food was cold. Lechon was bland, cold, hard and dry. As if it was microwaved or under heat lamps a long time. Not sure. Spaghetti was bland. Fried chicken, seems like it had no flavor/spice at all."

Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Taste The World is open from 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
