
A new Mexican restaurant has opened up shop in Grant Park. Located at 1039 Grant St. SE, Suite B13, the newcomer is called Patria Cocina.
According to its website, the spot specializes in Mexican gastronomy, offering a unique dining experience meant to transport customers through different regions of Mexico.
On the menu, expect to find starters like diced jalapeño cheese dip, fresh salsa and grilled corn with lime, chile powder and cotija cheese.
House specialties include shrimp enchiladas, a house taco trio and Salmon a la Parilla — grilled achiote-marinated salmon served on a bed of grilled zucchini, yellow squash, peppers and onions. (You can view the full menu here.)
With a four-star rating out of 24 reviews on Yelp so far, the fresh addition has gotten a good response.
George P., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on August 19, wrote, "I had the salsa verde. There was smokiness from the peppers and they throw in a little avocado for texture. The salsa was outstanding. I had the street tacos and they did not disappoint either."
"The salsa trio is da bomb," said Yelper Mike T. "Some of the best salsas I've ever had. So good! I definitely recommend that. Also, had a really yummy veggie burrito."
