Topping the list is Amsterdam Falafel Shop. Located at 248 Elm St. in Davis Square, it is the highest rated place for falafel in Somerville, boasting 4.5 stars out of 479 reviews on Yelp. The vegetarian and Middle Eastern spot has three other outposts in Washington and one in Miami.
Get ready for falafel sandwiches served with either three or five falafel balls on pita bread with a selection of up to 22 different toppings and sauces. Falafel bowls, double-fried fries and lazy-suzan platters are also on offer.
2. Jerusalem Falafel & Shawarma
Next up is Jerusalem Falafel & Shawarma, situated at 215 Highland Ave. With 4.5 stars out of 75 reviews on Yelp, the quick-service Middle Eastern spot has proven to be a local favorite. The falafel is seasoned with parsley, onion and spices and comes in a pita wrap or served on a plate with salad, pickles and hummus.
"Best falafel plate I have ever had in the Boston area and I have tried a bunch of places so that's saying a lot," wrote Yelper Spencer S., who reviewed the eatery on July 28. "Incredibly delicious and fresh food. The falafel was crispy and super juicy and flavorful inside, completely made from scratch."
3. Falafel Place
Then there's Falafel Place, located at 1 Main St. in Winter Hill. This joint is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the casual eatery four stars out of 131 reviews.
Try a falafel roll-up in which the chickpea patties are served on pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, onions and tahini sauce. The bill of fare at this establishment also includes lamb and chicken shawarma plates, fish kebabs, Greek and fattoush salads, lentil soup and more.
