A new cocktail bar and Latin American spot has opened its doors in the Studio Allston Hotel. Located at 1234 Soldiers Field Road, the new addition is called Casa Caña.

It's a Latin kitchen and rum bar reflecting the gastronomic heritage of Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Grilled prawns come with garlic, lime, tomato and cilantro, while the Cuban ropa vieja is made with braised short ribs, tomatoes, herbs and olives.

The "caña" of the name refers to the sugar cane plant that serves as the source of rum. The liquor appears in many of the signature cocktails, like the Old Cuban, made with lime, panela, bubbly and mint, as well as in classic mojitos, daiquiris, sours and Cuba libres.

The new arrival has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 16 reviews on Yelp.

Lucien K., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Sept. 15, wrote, "The entrance is colorful and inviting, the decor is well done, modern, understated in the best way but with enough flourishes to keep the eye occupied if not entertained. The ceviche is last-meal-worthy, fresh and tasty. Came with crispy plantain chips, generously salted and perfect to finish the dish."

And Rachael B. wrote, "Came mostly for the atmosphere and rum. I loved the decor and the layout of the space. Pricey for very small plates. Our favorite dish we had was the ceviche, it was refreshing and light."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Casa Caña is open from 7 a.m.–10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.–2 a.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–2 a.m. on weekends.
