La Siesta
La Siesta has opened its second Mexican restaurant at 3 Main St. Established in 2006, its original location is in Winthrop.
The family-friendly restaurant serves traditional Mexican fare in a casual atmosphere. Expect large plates of enchiladas, burritos and fajitas served with rice and beans. Specialties of the house include the sautéed shrimp with fresh garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, scallions and spices, and the roasted poblano pepper, stuffed with cheese and diced onions.
At the bar, frozen or iced margaritas come in colorful glasses with a salted rim.
Downriver Ice Cream
Wander over to 86 Andover St., former location of Chandler's, and you'll find Downriver Ice Cream, the shop's third outpost.
Its many ice cream treats include toffee ice cream mixed with peanut butter truffles and fudge, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies. There is also soft serve ice cream, floats and slushies.
In addition to desserts, Downriver offers coffee drinks, including espresso, and tea.
Beautique Nails & Spa
Finally, Beautique Nails & Spa has debuted at 79 Lynnfield St., offering a full range of services, from manicures and pedicures to waxing.
Nail enhancements are a specialty; you can choose from more than 200 shades of organic dipping powders, and over 300 colors of matching gel and polish. On its website, the salon notes that sanitation and safety is paramount, emphasizing its use of hospital-grade dry heat sterilizers to keep tools clean and LED lights to cure gel products.
