A new Mexican spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. Called La Siesta, the new addition is located at 3 Main St. in Peabody. The locally owned restaurant, which has another location in Winthrop, prepares mostly traditional Mexican fare in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere.

Look for large plates of chimichangas, enchiladas and fajitas served with rice and beans. Noteworthy menu items include the Veracruz-style tilapia, prepared with white wine, lemon, black olives, mushrooms, tomatoes and cilantro, and the grilled shrimp with sautéed mushrooms, tomatoes, onions and spinach in a roasted poblano cream sauce.

The full bar means tequila, margaritas and cold Coronas.

La Siesta has made a good impression thus far, with a four-star rating out of 10 reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Jacqueline S. wrote, “Grilled chicken taco salad was excellent. Enchiladas were exceptional, and the fajitas were the same. The very best margarita I have every had. Will definitely be going back.”

And Anjelly G. wrote, "We had a tamarind jalapeño margarita and a passion fruit margarita, which were both delicious, made with the right amount of mix and alcohol, which is hard to accomplish in most of the chains. The food was also phenomenal."

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: La Siesta is open from 5–10 p.m. on Monday–Thursday, 11:30 a.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 4:30–9:30 p.m. on Sunday.
