Vegan fast-casual chain By Chloe continues to expand in the city with its third Boston eatery. Located at 399 Boylston St., the new spot is in Back Bay.
The business is part of the New York-based ESquared Hospitality group best known for BLT Steak, and was created by Chloe Coscarelli, a vegan chef, cookbook author and Food Network "Cupcake Wars" winner.
It's a casual, counter-order affair with a wide-ranging menu. There are salads and grain bowls as well as pastas (with almond parmesan and cashew cheese sauce), burgers made from combinations of quinoa, black beans, lentils and/or tempeh, and breakfast dishes where scrambled tofu is the star.
Fresh juices and smoothies are two healthy drink options, and desserts range from chocolate pecan cookies to raspberry tiramisu cupcakes.
The new By Chloe has three reviews on Yelp, which gives it a 4.5-star rating thus far.
Nancy C., who was the first Yelper to review the new spot on Aug. 28, wrote, "It's all vegan food, but it's tasty and really filling. Almost everything can be made gluten free too."
Paqi R. added, "The ambiance is fun. I particularly like the swing chairs by the window. It's a great casual place to meet with friends. They also have an excellent online ordering system that allows you to indicate what time you want your order ready by, which is perfect for when you're crunched for time during your workweek lunch hour."
