Long Beach-based Yard House is a national sports bar and restaurant chain that recently opened a branch in the newly remodeled Downtown Commons at 405 K St., Suite 100, as we recently reported. Its stock in trade is "the world's largest selection of draft beer," plus comfort food with a New American twist.

Over a hundred such options await diners here, including local brews like the Bear Republic Racer X Imperial IPA. For food, look for small plates like the poke nachos: marinated raw ahi, avocado, serranos, sriracha aïoli and white truffle sauce.

Cacio is an Italian spot now open at 7600 Greenhaven Drive, Suite 23 in the Pocket area. It's the project of married couple Jonathan Kersieck (a veteran of Biba and the Grange) and Katie Kinner-Kerksieck, as we previously reported.

On offer are pastas like the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and house-made Italian pork sausage, as well as the cacio e pepe, composed of bucatini pasta, cheese, oil and black pepper. (You can check out the full menu here.)
