Modern Mexican restaurant Colita opens its doors in Minneapolis

A new contemporary Mexican eatery has debuted in the neighborhood. Called Colita, the fresh arrival is located at 5400 Penn Ave. South in Armatage.

According to its website, "Colita integrates the incredibly diverse flavors of Mexico with barbecue and smoking techniques from all over the world," with a focus on the flavors of the Oaxaca region.

Look for cold options like Island Creek oysters and avocado toast; warm options such as fish tacos and seared scallops; and smoked meats like Kansas City pork ribs, lamb barbacoa and pork chops. Take a look at the full menu here. 

Colita has already attracted fans thus far, with a five-star rating out of 11 reviews on Yelp.

Missi V., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 21, wrote, "How cute is Colita! I loved the look and the story behind all the small details of the decorations to the story behind the influence of the food."

And Will O. wrote, "Colita is a marvel. Colita elevates Minneapolis cuisine. Colita is simply a dream. Amanda was wonderful and took great care of us. Cannot wait to dine again."
