If you've got American and Southern fare on the mind, a recent opening is need-to-know. The fresh addition, called Whistle Britches, is located at 2405 Dallas Parkway, Suite 4, in the District at Willowbend shopping center. The original location is in Dallas, and this is its first expansion.

Restaurant and bar bills itself as a spot to score chicken, biscuits and beer. On the menu, you'll see options like the Whole Bird with four pieces white, four pieces dark, two wings, coleslaw, potato salad and two biscuits; the Whistle Britches sandwich on a buttermilk biscuit with crispy chicken, honey butter and pepper jelly; and the Chicken N' Waffles with a Belgium waffle, four chicken tenders, jalepeño cane syrup and honey butter. (See the full menu here.) Pair your meal with a specialty cocktail or tap beer.

Whistle Britches has garnered strong reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp.

Yelper Jennifer K., who reviewed it on October 29, said, "The creamed corn skillet cornbread with pickled jalapeño and butter was delicious. Decadent. I ordered the chicken fried steak and it was good. My hubby ordered the chicken and waffles."

And Sandi R. wrote, "My expectations were far exceeded because this place was phenomenal! We were quickly seated after arriving and I immediately noticed the adorable country kitchen decor. This place is casual with a very bright, inviting atmosphere. ... For our main course, we decided to share one of the enormous fried chicken sandwiches. We chose the Don Chingon, since it included two of our favorite items: queso and guacamole!"

Swing on by to take a peek for yourself: Whistle Britches is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.–10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sunday.
