Palio's On Tap

Palio's On Tap Western Center is an Italian spot, offering pizza and sandwiches. It's a spinoff concept of local chain Palio's Pizza Cafe, offering beer and wine on top of the normal menu.

On the menu, you'll find pizza, sandwiches, pasta, salads and more. Its pizzas include the Watson (Alfredo sauce, spinach, pepperoni, garlic, feta and bacon), the Stella (wing sauce, roasted chicken, mozzarella, cheddar and garlic topped with ranch dressing) and the Il Diavolo (pepperoni, sausage, jalapeños, habaneros, banana peppers, wing sauce, cheddar, spices and mozzarella). With a 4.5-star rating out of nine reviews on Yelp so far, Palio's On Tap has already made a good impression.

LaTieya P., who reviewed the new spot on Sept. 28, wrote, "I called 30 minutes before they closed and they still took my order. I tried the antipasto salad, the King Pizza and tiramisu for dessert. I was very pleased with all my  choices."

And Kristen S. noted, "Very friendly and attentive staff. They came by multiple times to check on us and make sure everything was great, that we got everything, and to ask if we needed anything else! Food tasted great as well."

Slice City Pizza

Slice City Pizza is a spot to score New York-style pizza and more.

For pizza, available by the pie or slice, it offers Neapolitan thin crust and stuffed options. For the former, you've got options like the Hawaiian with ham and pineapple; the Grecian with mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, feta and olives; and the Mexican with hamburger, onions, jalapeños and green chili peppers. The latter category includes the Meat Lovers stuffed with sausage, pepperoni, hamburger, Canadian bacon and mozzarella and the Italian stuffed with sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, salami and breakfast bacon. With a five-star rating out of 23 reviews on Yelp, Slice City Pizza has been getting positive attention.

Yelper John V., who reviewed Slice City Pizza on October 23, wrote, " I don't go out for pizza as much as I should but this place will make me start.  Probably the closest I've had to actual NYC pizza around here. The white had great flavor and the pepperoni was also fantastic. The dough had a nice flavor as well."

Whitney S. added, "Pizza is so good! Fresh and tastes like New York pizza! Everyone is super friendly. I always get the cheese and mushroom and my husband gets the meat lovers. Love that they offer it by the slice too!"

MOD Pizza

MOD Pizza is a spot to score build-your-own pizza and salads. The fast casual chain, originally from Seattle, has only recently expanded to DFW.

The pizza place offers personal pies that are freshly baked in a brick oven. You can either choose from a list of pre-configured pizzas or build your own by selecting your ingredients as you move down the line. Regardless, all pies are the same price with no upcharges for additional toppings.

Signature pies include the Mad Dog with pepperoni, mild sausage and ground beef; the Tristan with asiago, roasted red peppers, mushrooms and pesto; and the Jasper with mushrooms and spicy chicken sausage. (See the full menu here.)

With a 4.5-star rating out of 18 reviews on Yelp so far, MOD Pizza is on its way to developing a local fan base.

Tamira W., who reviewed it on October 21, said, "This is my favorite pizza place. The customer service is amazing and food is fantastic! Toppings are fresh and you can pick from their favorite pizzas or build your own for one great price."

Derek Y. added, "Good vibe, great pizzas, great prices! It's almost like Subway with pizzas, except you won't get charged for extra meats. In addition, this location has great staff!"

Newk's Eatery

Newk's Eatery is a spot to score pizza, salads and sandwiches. It's among the newest eateries in the far north area's Presidio Junction shopping complex. It's also the chain's first location in Fort Worth, though there are already three other locations in the greater Metroplex.  

The new restaurant's menu is divided across three main sections: pizzas, sandwiches and salads. If you're there for pizza, you'll see options like the Mediterranean with grilled chicken, tomatoes, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, feta, red onion and pepperoncincis; Newk's Q with chicken breast, white barbecue sauce, bacon, tomatoes and jalapeños; and the Spicy Shrimp with broiled shrimp, bell peppers, tomatoes, red pepper flakes and cilantro. Newk's Eatery is off to a strong start with a current Yelp rating of 4.5 stars out of 51 reviews.

Yelper John Q., who reviewed the restaurant on June 7, wrote, "Newk's is a brand-new restaurant in the area and it's going to be popular! The store is nice and large and even has an outdoor seating area! The staff was very nice and the food came out quick (and they were slammed)!"

Yelper Roy R. wrote, "The shrimp pizza was really good! I ate the the whole thing all by myself. My wife had some salad and she loved it too. Great customer service and the staff was quick to wipe down tables for the next guests."
