A new brewpub has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 345 W. Van Buren St. in downtown Phoenix, the fresh addition is called State 48 Brewery. It has two other local outposts in Surprise and Glendale, with another planned for Scottsdale.
The locally owned establishment offers a wide selection of craft brews, from an oatmeal stout with notes of dark roasted coffee to a blueberry ale. (Check out the drink menu here.)
Pair your drinks with shareable plates of wood-fired sausages, cauliflower wings or salted Bavarian pretzels served with beer cheese. Entrees, burgers and sandwiches, such as one with beer-braised pork belly, are also on offer.
With a four-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp so far, State 48 Brewery has made a promising start.
Brent C., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Oct. 14, wrote, "Another valuable addition to downtown's food and brewing scene. And a great go-to for downtown concertgoers."
Yelper Michael J. added, “Rejoice, beer lovers: Finally a brewery downtown! The famed West Valley brewery State Forty Eight has arrived! ... This is much more than just a beer place, boasting a full bar of spirits, full food menu and over 30 taps on draft."
State 48 Brewery DTPHX is open 11 a.m.-midnight Sunday–Wednesday and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Thursday–Saturday.
