Looking for a yummy Mediterranean meal near you?
Hoodline crunched the numbers to find the top Mediterranean restaurants around Fort Lauderdale, using both Yelp data and our own secret sauce to produce a ranked list of the best spots to venture next time you're on the hunt.
1. Greek Islands Taverna

Topping the list is Greek Islands Taverna. Located at 3300 N. Ocean Blvd., it is the highest rated Mediterranean restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, boasting 4.5 stars out of 871 reviews on Yelp.
From filet mignon to octopus, there’s a varied selection of meat, seafood, small plates and more to choose from on the menu. Try the fried calamari seasoned with lemon or the baklava drizzled with honey syrup.
On Sept. 29, Yelper Ivonne S. wrote, “We have been to this restaurant three times and it never fails to deliver. It’s delicious food, great service and has a wonderful atmosphere.”
2. Mini Pita

Next up is Mini Pita, situated at 1019 W. State Road 84th. With 4.5 stars out of 300 reviews on Yelp, the Mediterranean spot has proven to be a local favorite.
Mini Pita serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with options like pita pocket sandwiches, hummus, gyro and shawarma platters, falafel, lamb shank and its house specialty kataif — phyllo dough stuffed with spinach, eggplant or meat.
The cafe also offers the traditional dessert konafa, a light pastry filled with chocolate, pistachio, fruit or sweet cheese.
Yelper Gary F. said, “It's a small place with a fantastic menu and good service. The menu is loaded with vegan options. We started with the grape leaves, served hot with a side of tzatziki and housemade hot sauce. The grape leaves were good, but the hot sauce they make in-house was awesome!”
3. The Hummus House

Victoria Park's The Hummus House, located at 900 N.E. 20th Ave., is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the vegan Mediterranean spot 4.5 stars out of 102 reviews.
The Hummus House’s menu is inspired by authentic Israeli and Middle Eastern food with a "meatless twist," the eatery says on its website. It uses a plant-based meat alternative in many of its entrees.
The hummus is made fresh daily from organic chickpeas and is featured in bowls with options that include spicy vegan beef. Or try the eggplant pita pocket with hummus, grilled eggplant, an Israeli salad, hard-boiled egg and tahini.
“What a beautiful hidden local gem we found! ... We ordered a falafel, Morocco spring rolls, a plate of hummus with mushrooms, which were delicious and one of my favorites drinks, lemonade with ginger and mint. The food was really good and I'm happy to have a place like this close by,” said Yelper Hiram G.
4. Gyroville

Check out Gyroville, which has earned four stars out of 192 reviews on Yelp. You can find the Greek, Mediterranean and halal spot at 6341 N. Andrews Ave.
At Gyroville, build a meal by choosing pita, rice, wrap or salad. Then select from a list of proteins: gyro, chicken, falafel and spicy chicken. Top off the meal with any of the homemade sauces and a list of fresh ingredients that include Kalamata olives, sweet peppers and jalapeño peppers.
Or try out options like the barbecue chicken pita with cheddar, pineapple, lettuce, tomato, barbecue sauce and honey mustard tzatziki.
Yelper Rydon S. wrote, “Gyroville offers a good selection of meals at a fair price."
5. Myra Harbor Cafe

And then there's Myra Harbor Cafe, a Harbordale favorite with four stars out of 143 reviews. Stop by 1396 S.E. 17th St. to hit up the Greek eatery the next time you're in the mood.
The cafe serves breakfast and lunch. The menu consists of omelets, sandwiches, wraps, gyros, soup, burgers, smoothies, salads and an assortment of beverages, such as smoothies.
Standout items include the Mediterranean-style grilled tilapia served over a Caesar salad and the Greek grilled shrimp salad, made with romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber, avocado, feta cheese and onion.
