Want the inside scoop on the most happening local spots?

We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to uncover which Dallas eateries have been on the tips of diners' tongues this month.

To find out who made the list, we looked at Dallas businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month.

Read on to see which spots are getting plenty of attention this autumn.

Velvet Taco

Open since July, Velvet Taco, which offers brunch options, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Breakfast & Brunch" on Yelp. The taco spot introduced its brunch menu in late September, QSR magazine reports. 

Citywide, breakfast and brunch spots saw review counts increase by a median of 3.5 percent over the past month, but Velvet Taco saw a 37.1 percent increase, maintaining a mixed 3.5-star rating throughout.

It's not the only trending outlier in the breakfast and brunch category: Tribal All Day Cafe has seen a 22 percent increase in reviews, and Another Broken Egg Cafe has seen an 8.2 percent bump.

Located at 11700 Preston Road, Suite 600, in North Dallas, Velvet Taco offers brunch tacos like the Chicken & Waffle (crisp tenders, peppercorn gravy, green apple slaw, maple syrup, peppered bacon, red chili aioli, chives and waffle tortilla) and the Monte Cristo (strawberry jam, honey ham, Gruyere, strawberry jalapeño salsa, powdered sugar, micro mint and French toast flour tortilla). 

Hat Creek Burger Company Dallas

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Hat Creek Burger Company Dallas, the burger spot in Lake Highlands is a hot topic according to Yelp review data. The Austin-based fast-food chain made its Dallas debut in McKinney last October, according to Eater Dallas. 

While businesses categorized as "Burgers" on Yelp increased their review counts by a median of 2.6 percent over the past month, Hat Creek Burger Company Dallas bagged a 22.2 percent increase in reviews within that timeframe.

Open since May at 8185 Walnut Hill Lane, Suite 1400, Hat Creek Burger Company Dallas offers burgers like the Cowboy Hat (double meat served with shredded cheddar, bacon, red onion, pickles and barbecue sauce) and the Signature (topped with American cheese, house sauce and spicy sauerkraut). Ross & Hall Kitchen + Beer Garten

Ross & Hall Kitchen + Beer Garten in Northeast Dallas is also making waves. Open since September at 3300 Ross Ave., the sports bar and traditional American spot has seen a 17.3 percent bump in reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 3.5 percent for all businesses tagged "American (Traditional)" on Yelp.

Ross & Hall Kitchen + Beer Garten offers dishes like the Skillet Pork Chop (with andouille corn fritters, sauteed vegetables and grain mustard cream) and the Texican pizza (smoked brisket, barbecue sauce, bacon, red onions, pickled jalapeños and goat cheese). It also features local beers, bourbons and wine. (See the full menu here.)

Cidercade

Cidercade from Bishop Cider is the city's buzziest bar by the numbers. It was recently named the best cider bar in the U.S. by USA Today, which said the cidery "appeals to the young at heart with 165 new and vintage arcade games, best enjoyed with a glass of cider in hand."

The popular cidery, bar and arcade opened in March at 2777 Irving Blvd., Suite 200, in the Design District. It increased its review count by 6.7 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median review increase of 2 percent for the Yelp category "Bars."

It's not the only trending outlier in the bar category: Toasted Coffee + Kitchen has seen a 4.9 percent increase in reviews.

Cidercade offers 24 ciders on tap. It's also got some basic snacks available, and you can even bring your own food or have some delivered. There are usually food trucks outside on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. (See the food truck schedule here.)
