Hungry for vegan fare? A new soul food restaurant has you covered. Called Trio Plant-Based, the new addition is located at 610 W. Lake St. in the Lyn-Lake area of south Minneapolis.
The restaurant comes courtesy of married couple Sarah and Dan Woodcock and friend Louis Hunter. The eatery serves local, organic and fairly traded ingredients whenever possible, per its website. It opened in late September following a successful Kickstarter campaign and several pop-ups, reports City Pages.
On the menu, look for plant-based dishes like the Soulfood Platter, in which diners select three of the following: smoky house ribs with barbecue sauce, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, cornbread with maple butter and collard greens; a Grilled Cheeze Sandwich with tomato soup; or a chickpea salad. Here's the full menu.
With a five-star rating out of eight reviews on Yelp so far, the newcomer seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Yelper Anna K., who reviewed the restaurant on Oct. 6, wrote, "We checked out Trio last night and suffice to say that we will be back! I wasn't too hungry so opted for the Spaghettrios. It's a yummy bowl with tomato sauce, circle noodles and some potato chips on top for texture."
Yelper Emma H. wrote, "Trio did not disappoint! The food is so delicious. The staff is wonderful. The space is clean and beautiful. Trio is well worth a visit!"
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Trio Plant-Based is open from 5–10 p.m. on Monday–Thursday and Sunday and 5–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
