Looking to chow down on some Japanese fare? A new spot has you covered. Called IKKO II Japanese Steak House, the fresh arrival is located at 2466 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth.
The restaurant’s menu features sushi, sashimi, tempura and hibachi dishes. Order the seafood tempura entrée, made of deep-fried white fish, shrimp, scallops, squid, crab stick and a vegetable mix, and a spicy tuna roll on the side.
For lunch, try the hibachi special, which comes with choice of vegetable, chicken, salmon, red snapper, shrimp, scallops, steak or filet mignon. It is served with fried rice or noodles, Japanese onion soup, salad and vegetables.
With a 4.5-star rating out of four reviews on Yelp so far, the new restaurant seems to be a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
Brett R., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 24, wrote, “I had a great dinner at IKKO II. Phillip, the manager, introduced himself and made some great sashimi recommendations, based on what had recently been caught. Jacob, the sushi chef, was an expert and took great care of us.”
And Lance L. wrote, “The menu has plenty of choices, the food was good and the portions were ample. The prices were reasonable. All in all, it was a good dining experience and we will definitely be back again.”
